Whatever your chosen profession, having  a strong back and core area is vital in leading a strong healthy way of life. We get one body in this lifetime, so shouldn't we be looking after it? Having a good strong healthy back and core (our whole middle area) is when the muscles in your pelvis, lower  back, abdomen and hips are strong enough to work together to help support the the spinal area, and it is better to do an exercise that gets all these core muscles working simultaneously together.

The Laybak will do this!!

Quality of the exercise, rather than the quantity is the key. It is better to do half the amount properly. Breathing properly while doing the exercises is also essential, Follow the instructions on the top of the chair.

If you have weak core muscles, you are prone to poor posture, lower back pain and muscle injuries. Having a strong core area is similar to having a large back brace supporting and helping to prevent pain and injury.

If you are an athlete, every movement that you do in your sport comes from this area. The Laybak will also get the more deeper Psoas Muscles, which attach to the lumbar spine and down to the legs. These muscles have four attachments to the lumbar spine that support the lower back and help it move. There are only a few exercises that get these muscles working.

The Laybak will wake these muscles up!!!

The muscles of the abdomen perform a vital function in supporting the lower spine, protecting the internal organs and helping us breathe as well as allowing us to twist, rotate and sit up. Weakness or dysfunction in the muscle group can lead to

  • Excess curvature of the lower back.
  • Protruding weakened stomach muscles.
  • Inability to stabilize the pelvic when lifting one leg.

Abdominal muscles are large extending from the ribs to the pubic bone and out to the sides. The four main sections form a natural “corset” crossing over each other in different directions. All the exercises with the Laybak will work the abdominal muscles in their stabilizing capacity. The Laybak is designed to strengthen and tone the muscle group, improving posture, spinal strength, and lung function.

This is a diagram of the Psoas muscles, deep muscles that attach to the Lumbar spine and down to the legs. This helps explain why those with strong abdominal muscles may not be able to sit up in the Laybak chair. As it is the deeper Psoas muscles that need to be engaged, these muscles have four attachments to the Lumbar spine that supports the lower back and helps it move.
